South Carolina State University Football Schedule 2023 – The Southeastern Conference has released the 2023 football schedules for all SEC schools, it was announced Tuesday night. South Carolina has seven home games, four road games and one neutral site contest in the 2023 campaign.
South Carolina will open the 2023 season at a neutral site in Charlotte against the North Carolina Tar Heels on Feb. 2. September North Carolina leads the all-time series 35-20-4, but South Carolina has won seven of the last nine games. between the flagship universities of these two neighboring states. The Gamecocks 2023 home opener is Sept. 9 when the Furman Paladins travel to Williams-Brice Stadium. South Carolina leads the non-FCS Southern Conference Paladins 28-20-1 all-time, including 13 of the last 14 meetings. The last time they met was in 2014 when the Gamecocks won 41-10. Furman has only won the series once since 1949.
Acc Announces 2023 Football Schedule
The Gamecocks open the 2023 SEC portion of the road schedule at Georgia on Sept. 16. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 54-19-2, including a 30-9 advantage when the game was played in Athens.
Carolina’s SEC home opener is scheduled for Sept. 23 when the Mississippi State Bulldogs come to Columbia. The Gamecocks hold a slim 9-7 advantage in the all-time series, including a 5-3 advantage when playing at Williams-Brice Stadium. Mississippi State won the last meeting between the two SEC rivals in Starkville in 2016, 27-14, but Carolina has won all seven previous contests, including a 34-16 victory in 2013, the last time the Bulldogs visited Columbia.
South Carolina closes out September with a date at Tennessee on September 30. The Volunteers lead the all-time series with a 28-10-2 mark, including 18-3 in Knoxville. Tennessee has won its last three contests following the Gamecocks’ three-game winning streak.

The Gamecocks will enjoy their only bye week of the season on the weekend of Oct. 7 before returning to SEC action on Oct. 14 when they host the Florida Gators. The Gators lead the all-time series 29-10-3, but are just 12-8-1 at Williams-Brice Stadium. South Carolina won 40-17 in Columbia last year.
The Gamecocks are on the road for SEC play the next two weeks, traveling to Missouri on Oct. 21 and then Texas A&M on Oct. 28 for two bowl games. The Mayor’s Cup is awarded when the schools that call Columbia home meet at Faurot Field/Memorial Stadium. The Tigers have won the last three meetings to lead the all-time series 7-5. The Bonham Trophy is coming when Carolina travels to College Station a week later. The Aggies have won all eight meetings between the two “perennial” SEC rivals.
South Carolina ends the 2023 regular season with four straight home games in November. They open that stretch on Nov. 4 with the first Gamecocks vs. Gamecocks barbecue meeting when Jacksonville State comes to Columbia. Jacksonville State will move to the FBS level and join Conference USA in 2023.

SEC play begins in Week 2 when the Gamecocks travel to Fayetteville to face the Arkansas Razorbacks on September 10th. The Gamecocks and Georgia Bulldogs continue their rivalry on Sept. 17 in Columbia with an SEC home opener for South Carolina. Georgia defeated the Gamecocks last Saturday in Athens in the 74th meeting between the border state’s flagship institutions.
Clemson Announces 2023 Football Schedule
The Charlotte 49ers will make the short trip to Williams-Brice Stadium for the first time on September 24th. A member of Conference USA, the 49ers and Gamecocks have never met on the football field.
The Gamecocks’ three-game homestand ends Oct. 1 when they host FCS rival South Carolina State. History was made in 2007 when the Orangeburg-based HBCU made its first trip to Williams-Brice Stadium to face the Gamecocks. South Carolina won that contest 38-3 and also beat the Bulldogs 38-14 in 2009.
The Gamecocks return to the road on Oct. 8 at Kentucky to close out the first half of the season. The Lexington game will also be the first of six straight SEC contests for the Gamecocks.
Northern State Announces 2023 Football Schedule
South Carolina will enjoy its only home opener of the 2022 season on the 15th. on Oct. before Texas A&M and Missouri host back-to-back SEC home games on Oct. 22 and Oct. 29. Both games feature trophies, with the Bonham Trophy awarded to the winner of the Gamecocks-Aggies contest and the Mayor’s Cup on the line when the Gamecocks and Tigers meet a week later.
The Gamecocks are on the road in three of their four November tournaments. The month begins on November 5th when Carolina travels to Nashville for a date with the Vanderbilt Commodores. South Carolina has won the last 12 games with the Dores.
The Gamecocks are scheduled to travel to Gainesville and The Swamp to face the Florida Gators on Nov. 12 before wrapping up their conference slate on Nov. 19 with a home game against the Tennessee Volunteers. This is the last day South Carolina and Tennessee played.
