Purdue Softball Schedule 2023 – I take full responsibility for this. When I wrote about Purdue softball a few weeks ago, they had a great shot at making the NCAA Tournament. After my post, they won their next game by knocking off Notre Dame and then went 1-11 in the final 12. It ended with a narrow 4-3 loss to no. 3 Minnesota in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament on Saturday, where we had the bases loaded as the game ended.

There’s no NCAA Tournament, but there is the softball equivalent of the NIT, and after a 31-27 finish, Purdue is in the postseason for the first time in a decade:

The 2019 Pro Softball National Championship will open four regional locations in Liberty State, Nevada, Stephen F. Austin and Iowa State. All regions are double-elimination, with the four region winners advancing to the NISC Championship Round, which will be held June 24-26. May in Fort Collins, Colorado. Purdue, one of 19 teams participating in the NISC, heads to the Iowa State Regional in Ames, South Dakota on Thursday, May 16 at Eastern Kentucky State and hosts Iowa State. The Boilermakers open the tournament against South Dakota on Thursday, May 16 at 11 a.m. E.T. The contest marks Purdue’s second meeting with the Coyotes this season. The teams last met in February at the Madeira Beach College Invitational, where South Dakota secured a 4-2 victory. The 2019 season marks the NISC’s third year and Purdue’s first appearance in the tournament. As for the teams in this tournament, Purdue was scheduled to play St. Louis in February. with Francis, but was canceled due to weather. We also beat Rutgers last week in the Big Ten tournament. In Bowman’s first season as head coach at Purdue Fort Wayne, the Mastodons are scheduled to play 50 regular season games, 27 of which will be in the Horizon League.

The Mastodons have three tournaments to highlight their non-league schedule. The ‘Dons open the year at the Alabama State Black & Gold Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama, 11-13. in February. Next week, Purdue Fort Wayne visits the Volunteer State for Challenge Chattanooga. Finally, the Mastodons will play Marshall’s Thundering Herd in the Round Robin, where 4-6. games against Marshall, Maryland Eastern Shore and Winthrop in March.

The Horisont league schedule includes five home series and four away series. Purdue Fort Wayne hosts UIC (March 11-12), Oakland (April 1-2), Detroit Mercy (April 15-16), Youngstown State (April 29-30) and Northern Kentucky (May 6-7). The Mastodons play at Cleveland State (March 18-19), Green Bay (March 25-26), IUPUI (April 8-9) and Robert Morris (April 22-23).

Softball To Host Lamar For Midweek Doubleheader

17.-19. February – Holy Cross (Sugar Land, TX, four games) – Purdue resumes its season with a four-game shutout series at home to the Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Holy Cross was 17-37 last year.

February 24-26 – NJIT (Holly Springs, NC, four games) – This is essentially another warm-up series, once again at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs, where Purdue played a few games last year. NJIT was 26-27 a year ago.

3.-5. March – Akron (Holly Springs, NC, four games) – The team remains in North Carolina as part of an eight-game homestand at Ting Stadium. Akron finished last in the MAC last year at 14-39.

Colonials Announce 2023 Schedule

March 10-12 – at Ole Miss (three games) – There’s a very good chance for Purdue to go 12-0 and should be at least 10-2 before a huge test in Week 4. Ole Miss was the last team from last year’s NCAA tournament. They entered the Coral Gables Regional as the top seed, then reeled off five straight wins to win the regional and the Southern Miss Super Regional. They then won the College World Series for the first time, giving them a 10-1 mark in the NCAA Tournament. They are always a strong team, but this is the first time Purdue has played 1967 defending national champion Ohio State.

March 15 – Northern Illinois – We have a midweek home opener! NIU was 14-40 last year and Purdue won a wild 17-14 midweek game against them last year.

17.-19. March – at Evansville (three games) – The Aces were pretty good a year ago. They were 32-24 and finished second in the MVC. They fell short of an NCAA bid to the conference tournament. was supposed to play a midweek game at Purdue, but that was canceled due to weather.

Mastodon Softball Announces 2022 Schedule

March 21 – Illinois-Chicago – UIC was 22-25 last year but took both midweek home-and-home games from Purdue.

March 22 – Butler – The Bulldogs struggled to a 19-35-1 record last year and lost 11-6 at Alexander Field.

24.-26. March – at Michigan State (three games) – Big Ten play begins in late March in East Lansing, where the Spartans went 24-30 overall and 8-16 outside the league.

Softball Announces 2022 Season Schedule

March 28 – Indiana State – The Sycomores are always a strong program, but they went 26-22-1 last year. Last year, only one of two scheduled midweek games with them was played and it was a 10-6 overtime win for the Trees.

March 31 – April 2 – Northwestern (three games) – Big Ten home opener against a Wildcats team that went 23-27 last year. Purdue took them three games to two in Evanston late in the season.

7.-9. April – at Minnesota (three games) – The Gophers are usually ranked in the top 10, but have finished last in the conference the past two years. Last year they were 6-18 with a league record of 16-36.

April 11 – Indiana State – As usual, Purdue gets another midweek home game against the Trees.

14.-16. April – Penn State (three games) – Penn State entered the league tournament last year with an 11-13 record and went 26-29 overall. They also took two of three from Purdue in Happy Valley.

April 18 – Ball State – The Cardinals had some bad luck last year. They were 40-19 overall and went 32-7 for the MAC regular season title. They were playing in the MAC tournament at home when Central Michigan upset them twice to steal an automatic bid. This after they had four games against them in the regular season.

April 19 – Butler (Victory Field, Indianapolis) – The Boilers return to Victory Field for the first time in a long time to play Butler in downtown Indy. He was supposed to play them there in 2020, but…

21.-23. April – at Maryland (three games) – Maryland is the defending Big Ten champion and hosted the regional last year with a 48-14 record. However, they were upset by UConn and missed the Super Regional. Two games were won against Purdue in the regular season last year
