Start times and broadcast networks have been revealed for some games in the first half of Penn State’s 2022 schedule.

The Nittany Lions will make their season debut at 8 p.m. Kickoff on Thursday, September 1 at Purdue. The game will be broadcast on Fox.

Next week, Penn State will play at home against Ohio at noon, which will be broadcast on ABC.

On the road again for Week 3, the blue and white will face Auburn at Jordan Hare Stadium at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.

The timing of the team’s next two games against Central Michigan and Northwestern is still up in the air, but both will air on the Big Ten Network and ESPN, respectively.

The Nittany Lions’ home tilt with Minnesota, the home game, will officially start at 7:30 p.m. ET, but the network has not yet been assigned.

On Wednesday, The Big Ten officially announced updates to the upcoming 2022 football schedule. In an effort to leave behind some of the inconsistencies of the 2020 season, several teams received a combination of changed venues, changed dates, and changed opponents, in the cases of Penn State, Illinois, Northwestern, and Indiana.

The biggest change for the Nittany Lions comes in the addition of Northwestern to the schedule, replacing Illinois. The Illini had played in State College the previous two seasons, and had they stayed on schedule, would have played Penn State on the road for three consecutive seasons.

The Nittany Lions still open on the road against Purdue, but now face Ohio State later in the season, and with Michigan eliminated from the competition. The Land Grant Trophy game has also returned to its rightful place at the end of the season.

An Early Look At Penn State’s 2023 Football Schedule

All in all, this looks much more favorable for Penn State, as they no longer play Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State within a month, with Illinois sandwiched between them. They also have a bye before taking on Michigan this season. , and, as already mentioned, Michigan State is back at the end of the season. Illinois may have been traded to Northwestern, but the Wildcats have a habit of winning division titles after falling short of four wins in a season.

Last, but not least, Dave Revzin of The Big Ten Network noted that future schedules will also be updated, as the changes in 2022 have an effect on the years to come.
