The Big 12 Conference announced Monday night that it will abandon its long-awaited 2023 football schedule at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, sending the Twitterverse into a frenzy.

The TCU Horned Frogs seem to have jumped the gun a bit and released their schedule for the upcoming season on the official TCU Football website.

Here’s a look at the schedule via screenshots taken before the schedule was pulled from the Frogs’ official website Monday night.

TCU looks set to welcome two new members to the Big 12 in 2023, opening the conference with Houston on Sept. 16 and then hosting BYU on Oct. 14.

The last six games on the Horned Frogs’ schedule have been like a rough slate. After facing BYU, the Horned Frogs will travel to Kansas State, Lubbock (Thursday night), host Texas, then Baylor and close out the regular season at Oklahoma.

If this is indeed TCU’s 2023 schedule, the Horned Frogs will have plenty of challenges to overcome with a brand new-look offense, but that’s the price you pay when you’re in the national championship game. The University of Houston will make its first Big 12 opener. season against TCU at TDECU Stadium, and the University of Texas will also visit, two people with knowledge of the 2023 football schedule said.

Houston is set to join the Big 12 next summer, along with Cincinnati, UCF and BYU, to form a 14-team league that will include Texas and Oklahoma.

The full Big 12 schedule is expected to be released in December. UH’s opening schedule also includes a visit from Texas Tech and a road game against Baylor.

Since the Southwest Conference disbanded after the 1995 season, UH and TCU have met four times as members of Conference USA and in the Texas Bowl in 2007. . Seven home games and four out of state for TCU, which plays nine straight conference games next fall.

The Iron Skillet’s 100th edition will take place on September 25 after a one-season hiatus. The Horned Frogs have won 11 of the last 13 contests and 17 of the previous 20 against the Mustangs for a 51-41-7 overall advantage in the series.

Big 12 play begins in October when the new-look Longhorns travel to Amon G Carter Stadium for the first matchup between Patterson and Steve Sargsyan. Since joining the Big 12, the Horned Frogs are 7-2 against the Longhorns.

In addition to Texas, TCU will host West Virginia (Oct. 23), Baylor (Nov. 6) and Kansas (Nov. 20).

After leaving Texas just twice last season, TCU will make four in-state trips in 2021. After an Oct. 9 contest at Texas Tech where they won three straight for the first time in program history, the Horned Frogs traveled to Oklahoma. (Oct. 16), Kansas State (Oct. 30) and Oklahoma State (Nov. 13) before closing the regular season at Iowa State (Nov. 27). After the Thanksgiving showdown in Ames that Saturday, in potentially wintry conditions, it’s a must-watch.

Once again, it’s a killer game in conference play for the Frogs, who play their nine Big 12 games in nine straight weeks next fall.

Over the past seven seasons, TCU is tied for the second-best mark in the Big 12 Conference (38-25) and has the third-best overall record (58-30).
